Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has a number of programs and campaigns that support their substance abuse and mental health work. Recently, SAMHSA awarded nearly $38.6 million grants to help individuals and communities recover from trauma through their Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST).

Over the next five years, eight communities across the country will help provide services and support to youth and families exposed to trauma through natural or man-made disasters. According to a SAMHSA press announcement on October 14, 2016, the ReCAST grants will promote resilience and equity through applying evidence-based, violence prevention, and community youth engagement programs. The grants will also help promote access to trauma-informed behavioral health services.
