Rhode Island Project LAUNCH

Rhode Island’s Department of Health and Bradley Hospital are expanding on their original Project LAUNCH grant, focused in the city of Providence, to promote young child wellness in three additional communities in the state: Woonsocket, Newport, and Washington County. Project LAUNCH partners are focused on expanding screening and assessment practices mental health consultation in both early care and education, and primary pediatric care; and family education and support programs. The three expansion communities were selected because of a prevalence of young children at risk for poor developmental outcomes as well as their participation in a state Health Equity Zone initiative to address racial and ethnic health disparities. Rhode Island Project LAUNCH will also develop a guide to integrating behavioral health in primary care and will offer training and technical assistance tailored to the expansion communities. In addition, they will work to improve service delivery throughout the state through aligned eligibility criteria, common referral protocols, and improved service delivery systems.
