Please join us for a new Project LAUNCH Online Learning Event (OLE), “Making a Difference: Tribal and Tribal-State Policy Change Processes for Improved Children’s Services” on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm ET (11:00-12:30 pm PT; 12:00-1:30 pm MT; 1:00-2:30 pm CT). Although this OLE is developed with Project LAUNCH Tribal grantees in mind, it is open to all Project LAUNCH grantees that work with Tribes/tribal organizations and/or those that would like to learn more about this topic.

Promoting the wellness of children requires addressing the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of child development. Tribal policy and tribal-state policy have tremendous influence on ensuring that Native children are ready to learn and able to succeed. As a participant, you will learn steps that tribes and states have taken to create or change policy for improved services for Native children.

Meet our Guest Presenter!

Holly Echo-Hawk has senior level behavioral health administrative and policy experience and has served as a consultant to tribal organizations across the country. She has strong facilitation skills and has often been contracted by organizations to help identify and resolve barriers that stand in the way of new approaches to service that are needed to meet emerging community needs. A former behavioral health director (in both tribal and mainstream organizations), she is experienced in building bridges between drug and alcohol, mental health, and primary health care providers for improved services. She has also provided national leadership in the field of culture-driven, practice-based evidence as well as ways to integrate evidence-based practice in Native organizations. She is an accomplished author of numerous publications on the topics of cultural competency and tribal behavioral health. Ms. Echo-Hawk is an enrolled member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma and now lives in the San Diego area.

The OLE will be highly interactive with many opportunities to engage with Ms. Echo Hawk and other Project LAUNCH grantees.
