Conceptualizing Young Child Wellness and Youth Violence Prevention

How do we conceptualize our work to promote emotional well-being and mental health? How do we visualize the work it takes to prevent youth violence? As the expression goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. The team supporting the Project LAUNCH (Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children’s Health) and Safe Schools/Healthy Students grant programs developed two conceptual models or frameworks that help illustrate the comprehensive approach these programs take to prevent youth violence and address the health and well-being of young children.

Project LAUNCH is a program designed to promote the wellness of young children ages birth to 8 by addressing the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of their development. The long-term goal of Project LAUNCH is to ensure that all children enter school ready to learn and able to succeed. The Project LAUNCH Framework showcases this approach. Implemented together, the components of the Project LAUNCH Framework can improve the health and well-being of young children. Read more about the Project LAUNCH Framework.
